In England you must have qualified teacher status (QTS) to take up a teaching post in a state school. There are several routes to achieve this in England.
If you wish to train as a teacher, SCITT-led, school-led and university-led training are among the options open to you. Maiden Erlegh Teaching School Alliance participates in the School Direct programme of school-led training.
We work with either University of Reading or UCL to deliver training. We host both tuition fee and salaried trainees. For more information see elsewhere on this website and on UCAS teacher training.
If you have already qualified as a teacher outside of England, for example in the EU, you may be able to apply for QTS without further training. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/qualified-teacher-status-qts
