Who are we?

We are an alliance of excellent schools led by Maiden Erlegh School.  In september 2016 we changed our name to Maiden Erlegh Teaching School Alliance.

We specialise in initial teacher training and in providing bespoke training and support packages for schools looking to improve upon their Ofsted judgement whether it be from requires improvement to good, or from good to outstanding.

What do we offer?

The teaching school remit covers six areas:

  1. Initial teacher training
  2. Succession planning and talent management
  3. Continuing professional development
  4. School-to-school support
  5. Specialist leaders of education
  6. Research and development.

Our Teaching School History

In March 2012 Maiden Erlegh, as one of about only 100 schools in England and the only secondary school in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, was granted National Teaching School status. The designation by the Government’s National College followed the preparation and submission of a detailed application by deputy headteacher at the time, Mr Haddrell, and entitles the school to lead training and professional development for staff in the region.

CEO of Maiden Erlegh Trust, Dr Thomas said: 'we are extremely proud to be one of the first national teaching schools. This designation builds on our expertise in initial teacher training (ITT) and in leadership development. We will now be providing additional training and development with our partner schools for new teachers and support staff through to headship. We look forward to supporting a range of colleagues at all stages of their careers and see this designation as natural development in the school’s growing outreach work.'
